Mark Holterman M.D., Surgeon and Founder of Mariam Global Health

Mariam Global Health is an organization that is dedicated to helping global health ventures obtain the resources they need to get off the ground. It was founded by Dr. Mark Holterman in 2012, a man with a global mission to help those in need of medical care. Mariam Global Health primarily supports medical organizations that focus on the advancement of technology in the autoimmune and stem cell research fields.

Dr.Holterman is as adept in the area of entrepreneurship as he is in the medical field. He serves as a mentor for new entrepreneurs looking to get started as impact innovators. One of the key pieces of advice that he gives is to spend money wisely. Dr. Holterman believes that entrepreneurs should always be prepared for any financial situation–investors may back out or unexpected costs may come up. Mark Holterman received his B.S. degree in Biology from Yale University in 1980. He received his medical degree from The University of Virginia, and also completed his residency and internship at The University of Virginia. Holterman holds a Ph.D, also from The University of Virginia, in Medicine and Immunology. He is certified in Pediatric Surgery from the American Board of Surgery. Some of his professional memberships include Association of Academic Surgeons, American Diabetes Association, American Association of Clinical Anatomy, and Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies. Holterman was also a Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at The University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. In addition to being CEO of Mariam Global Health, Dr. Holterman is also a practicing surgeon. He continues to work as a pediatric surgeon at OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois, working hard every day to save lives.
