Lime Crime was launched in 2008 by the artistic master mind Doe Deere. Using her unique creative vision, Lime Crime features a line of cosmetics using color schemes that only the most bold and free spirited are willing to wear.
Doe Deere was born in Russia but is currently an NYC resident. She has been touted as one of the most inspiring female entrepreneurs of today.
The idea of the brand was born out of necessity, Doe Deere operated an Ebay store that sold a variety of colorful apparel prior to Lime Crime. She discovered a lack of makeup colorful enough to accentuate the clothing.
In 2009, she showcased a colorful line of lipsticks called “Unicorn Lipsticks” and these became the first products available from the brand. Today, you will find a large variety of matte and liquid lipstick colors that come on all colors of the rainbow.
Lime Crime proudly proclaims on the official Lime Crime blog curated by Doe Deere that all of their cosmetics are 100% free of animal products and cruelty. The products are also not tested on animals. It has also received certification by PETA and The Leaping Bunny Program. Many employees of the company also give shelter and care to animals in need.
The Brand mainly focuses on lip and eyeshadow color cosmetics. The eyeshadows can be purchased in palettes or in their trademark form “SuperFoil”. The Superfoil eyeshadows are dry pigments that transform into “liquid foil” once they come in contact with water. The end result is a sparkle finish. There is a liquid eyeliner product available as well.
Currently the bestselling products are their Velvetines Liquid Matte Lipstick Colors, Happi and Posh. A few of the SuperFoil palettes are all the rage right now as well.
The website features a link to Doe Deere’s Beauty Blog and a page titled “Hairspiration”, which features various colorful hair shades and corresponding makeup ideas.
The company currently ships internationally and offers free shipping within the United States on orders over $50.
